Poem and photo – The mayor taped

The mayor taped

I saw the mayor taped to the door. /

His mug was one you couldn’t ignore. /

He promised a meet and greet; /

Then a rasslin’ match to complete. /

I don’t know if I’ll attend. /

Such events do tend to offend. /

While politics can be rough, /

Forearm smashes are beyond enough. /

Seeing bodies thrown around, /

Will make me wonder if Cas Walker’s back above ground. /

Maybe I prefer a bit less sham, /

With politicians to be less ham, /

To save the pork for the table, /

And work for the good of all available.

Bridge

Feel the foot bridge sway. /

Swollen creek rushes your way. /

Your ears do not stray.

Water bubbles

Upon the Spring petals /

New raindrops run and dangle, /

Nourishing old hopes.

Flames of green

Flames of green, come Spring /

Buds erupt: wild, jaunty things. /

Leaves no more unseen.

Bare limbs

Bare limbs cannot catch /

The falling sun, yet they hold /

Winter’s fading grip.

Poetry and photo: “Lichen”

Lichen

Pathways, walkways, walls — /

Lichen covered here and there. /

Brick, stone, wood, and dirt — /

Decay is Time’s only care. /

Taking down the now — /

Leaving pieces that we share. /

Pathways, walkways, walls — /

Leading onward, lichen dare.

Some boom much sooner. /

Up into the air they zoom. /
