First, there was the Artificial Intelligence Revolt (AIR) of 2092. Next, there was the Robot Apocalypse (RoAp) of 2127. Then after the Robots had taken over and mankind was a mere memory, along came the Bugalypse. Having seen how the robots had done it, the bugs engineered their own metal versions of their kind. This allowed them to make even larger versions of themselves than they had ever imagined. There was only one problem: They had forgotten to rust proof their new bodies and for many of the Bugalypse life ended in a rusty metal shell in the middle of a field of flowers. And with it, so did the Bugalypse. Known as the Bugalypse Bust, it was sometimes referred to by its acronym: BuBu (pronounced Boo-Boo).

Photo finish Friday: “Gate”
Gate
Heavy lies the head
of the man whose heart is stone
Heavy lies the head
of the man who has no bone.
Heavy lies the head
of the man whose fate awaits
Heavy lies the head
of the face so out-of-place.
Heavy lies the head
whose face is in the clouds
Heavy lies the head
with cumulus for a shroud.
Heavy lies the head
when over my shoulder I look.
Heavy lies the head
in his hands he holds a book.
Heavy lies the head
seeking only mother’s love.
Heavy lies the head
a resting place for doves.
Heavy lies the head
whose shoes are granite bound.
Heavy lies the head
for they make yet not a sound.
Heavy lies the head
of the man whose spirit is light.
Heavy lies the head
you see it both day and night.
Heavy lies the head
his burden is my burden too.
Heavy lies the head
his words help me know what to do.

The Pistol Pump. For the gal on the go. For the gam on the lamb.
Ladies, make ’em turn their heads.
Ladies, make him ask himself: “Is she really packing heat, or is she just aiming to see me?”
Kneel in church and the guy behind you will be all fired up.
Ladies, watch the sparks fly when you take to the dance floor in these pumps.
Safety straps extra.
Repeating models not available available in all states. Check your local laws.
A new product brought to you by: Heel fire and dance nation.

Photo finish Friday: “Women with weapons”
Women with weapons.
O’ those tarts with tools.
Doin’ the Restoration Rumble
Beatin’ back the blighted blues.
A lonely hovel up on a hill —
A seven-year pain, a bitter pill
A rundown house but not a home
With little left except the loam.
But with hammer and with heart
They start saving by taking apart.
Battered boards go away
And neglect can no longer stay.
They build up by building back
Foundation first and clapboard cracks.
Sanding, shaping, mantel making
New kitchen for cookies baking.
Women with weapons.
O’ those tarts with tools.
Doin’ the Restoration Rumble
Beatin’ back the blighted blues.
New stairway up, new flooring down
New windows in against air and sound.
New doors in place, uplifted face:
Cabinets, tiles, and counter space.
TV crew comes round to tape
To share and show its change of state.
Hollow house brought back to life
Ending ugliness and all its strife.
Women with weapons.
O’ those tarts with tools.
Doin’ the Restoration Rumble
Beatin’ back the blighted blues.
[Editor’s note: so see more photos of work done on this house, go to https://www.facebook.com/The.Anderson.Project.ONK It’s amazing what women (and some men) with the right “weapons” can do to bring things back to life rather than take life away.]

Photo finish Friday: “Fellini K”
There’s a ghost in the machine-y
down there at the Fellini.
At hours day or night
you might catch a little fright
next to the freezer door
glass shattered on the floor.
Chicken flying through the air
frozen and landing without a care
down there at the Fellini
a sight just a little seamy.
Come down if you dare,
watch the show beyond compare.
The ghost may try to kill you
or someone may try to shill you
down there at the Fellini
down there at the Fellini.
A man with a two-foot sausage
squeezes it like a little hostage.
A large cow in the parking lot
says, “Take the udder slot”
down there at the Fellini
down there at the Fellini.
It has a Facebook page,
a Google listing all the rage.
Type in Fellini Kroger
or watch the show, if your bolder
down there at the Fellini
Fellini, Fellini,
down there at the Fellini,
Fellini, Fellini.

Photo finish Friday: “Unmentionable”
Bosom babe met the elephant
down by the merry-go-round.
Bosom babe asked the elephant
if he’d like to see the town?
Replied the red elephant
lifting his trunk high into the air,
“I’ve seen all I want to see
and much more than you care.”
She wondered what he meant
until she looked up high.
Then she spied her unmentionables:
dainty white against blue sky.
Let this be a lesson to you:
ladies don’t hang around
a shiny red elephant
from the tchotchke side of town.

[Editor’s note: Yes, this poem is Fourth of July suitable (pardon the pun). It mentions the colors red, white, and blue.]

Photo finish Friday: “A penny….”
Big to little:
A.: A penny for your thoughts.
or
A.: And you thought there was no career advancement.
or
A.: I penny you.
Little to big:
A: Pass the buck.
or
A: So that’s what inflation does.
or
A.: Are you my penny, auntie?
