Sunday silliness: “They’re back!”

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, and friends blow in for the holiday season.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, and friends blow in for the holiday season.

And they brought a friend and some fun.

And they brought a friend and some fun.

Just when you think it is safe to go outside, to enjoy the season, to appreciate the outdoor decorations … you come across this!

Keep you distance … for if you dare and cross through the candy cane arch you will enter a world of both of silliness and air, strange lights and odd shapes, dark corners and strange surprises. You will have just crossed over … into the Holiday Zone.

Photo finish Friday: “Blue lights, blue questions”

A Blue Christmas?

A Blue Christmas?

Are these blue lights draped around a motorcycle engine the sign of a holiday police dragnet? A sudden K-Mart blue light holiday special buy? The remains of a collision of a motorcycle and a Christmas tree (including the candy cane)? Picasso in a new blue period just in time for the holidays? A physical manifestation of the ghost of Elvis opining that he will have a Blue Christmas without you? Whatever it is, it is a little larger than your average stocking stuffer.

Photo finish Friday: “A night, a fright, a bite”

"I want to suck your nuts."

“I want to suck your nuts.”

Under the guise of holiday détente, a contingency of nutcracker vampires met with their counterparts from Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and the other holidays.

Citing how pumpkins and candy are traditionally part of Halloween, the leader of the group said, “If Thanksgiving can have pumpkin pies, and Christmas can have candy canes, I do not see why we can’t have Halloween nutcrackers.”

When advised that they could still not get their way, the Halloween nutcrackers stormed out of the discussions and threatened to “shut down the Holidays until we get our way.”

With Halloween soon approaching, no one is sure if Halloween we care forth on its threat to shut down the Holidays. Stay tuned for late breaking developments.

Haiku to you Thursday: “Holiday feast”

The meal and the grace,
the sustenance and the hope,
each handled with love.

The misunderstood PPE gargles

The misunderstood PPE gargles
Are related to the ancient fargles.
They live in a land
Of neither rock nor sand,
But they fit over eyes like sparkles.

These oddly named PPE gargles
Can only be worn by gargoyles.
When they sit on the edge
Of a building or ledge
The gargles give their eyes stargles.

These stargles come out in the night
When there is no moon or no light.
And only the gargoyles can see
With their gargles PPE
All the wonders and terrible frights.

Fargles were gargles of a time
When the gargoyles lived in the brine.
And all they could see
Without the fargles that be
Was the salt, the sea, and the grime.

Gargoyle with his PPE gargles

Gargoyle with his PPE gargles

Now armed with their PPE gargles
Gargoyles with stare at their stargles
They will sit on their ledge
Whole worlds in their heads.
And nary burp, nor chirp, nor hargle.
