“To fly free in space”

To fly free in space. STS-41B.

Some day, when I float /

up there, above the Earth, /

flowers still will bloom.

Some day, when up there,

I float above the Earth,

rivers will still flow.

When up there, some day,

I float above the Earth,

the clouds will still breathe.

Above the Earth, some day,

when I float up there,

Moon and Sun will laugh.

You do not deserve

some day, they say, this beauty

of the Earth below.

Icarus

I lack the sky /

and even if I could fly /

the birds would laugh.

“Cauldron”

Cauldron

Through the evening sky, /

without wings, these cauldrons fly, /

roiling, rumbling by.

Haiku to you Thursday: “One day”

One day

One day, we will leave /

our decrepit homes. Maybe /

then ourselves will fly.

Monday (morning) writing joke: “Writer of Horror”

There once was a writer of horror

Who wrote about mean, evil flora.

And there once was a fly

That landed nearby

And ate him so he could write no more-ah.
