The stream of color /
the leaves of sound /
the grounding of light /
into the Earth we are bound.

Open Garden
The Earth will never /
Be the same, but it is not /
Ours to begin with.

The world
Over my shoulder, /
Earth is a small orb in space. /
Still, it fills my dreams.

Clouds
Morning light, gray clouds /
Earth below, folded in shrouds /

We will build beauty /
When we make our new world. /

A cup of Mercury
I swallowed from the cup of Mercury
to cover my absurdity.
The ambrosia of Venus
was cloudy in toxic meanness.
I raised a toast to ol’ Earth
the land of mirth and birth.
I’d thought I’d reached the stars
but was only a sip of Mars.
“Here’s mud in your eye,”
I said to Jupiter by and by.
I left a ring around Saturn —
just following an old pattern.
I drank from Uranus
though you thought me an ignoramus.
Things got kind of blurry
drinking from Neptune in such a hurry.
I got blotto on Pluto —
as a planet I couldn’t let go.

Puddles in the rain. /
Transitory friendships. /
Earth absorbs them all.
