Bee collects pollen /
Across the sunflower’s face. /
Heat is time rising.

Walk on the wild side
Walking sometimes wins /
Even when feathers offer flight. /
A Daedalus day.

Roundabout light
In darkness we take /
a turn in the roundabout. /
Toward the light we give.

Beauty
A flower’s beauty /
is built on moments of work. /
Kindness upon toil.

There once was a writer of wars /
Who saw peace as a series of chores. /
When people put their arms away /
He had nothing to say, /
And at parties he was just one of the boors.

Deadheads
I deadhead lilies, /
snapping old petals so new /
flowers don’t suffer.

Berry with me
Green as the spring born. /
Round as the full summer moon. /
Ripen berry soon.

Today we cry
Today we cry, for /
Tomorrow we smile when clouds /

Tilt
Do you run like Mercury? /
Straight arrow to the end? /
Is you love like Venus? /
Head over heals to begin? /
Are you a quarter way over, /
Mars tilted into battle? /
Or are you Uranus, /
Cockeyed like a rattle? /
Jupiter tilts only slightly /
As the mighty often do. /
Saturn, Neptune, and Ol’ Earth /
Bend as if they’ve had a few, /
Hanging out with Mars, /
Swapping stories, one or two. /
All the planets have stories /
And each an angle of repose. /
That includes Pluto, to whom /
Some have turned up their collective nose.

A part apart
Us apart, a part /
of us still locked down because /
