Men fatally shoot each other over repair issue
Associated Press

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Two West Tennessee man have died in an argument over a garden tiller at a repair shop.
WCMT radio in Martin reported the death over the weekend of 68-year-old Oren Willis.
Weakley County Sheriff’s deputies said Roy McAlpin and Willis, who was one his customers, shot each other Friday.
McAlpin was pronounced dead at his shop near Palmersville. Willis was taken to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, where he died on Saturday.
Investigators said the men argued after Willis didn’t return to pick up his repaired tiller and McAlpin sold it to someone else.
Makes me think of that macabre little poem…
One fine day in the middle of the night
Two dead men got up to fight
Back to back
They faced each other
Sword to sword
They shot each other…
An interesting poem. I had not read it before. Thank you for posting it.
There’s more to it, but I can’t remember the rest. I remember singing it as a kid, haha – wonder what a shrink would say about that…
“One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,
One was blind and the other couldn’t, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout “hooray!”
A paralyzed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys,
If you don’t believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!”
Here is the longer version that I have heard. My fiance is the one that told it to me. He is always saying it.
Very good. Thank you for sending it along and for taking to time to read the posting.
Bingo!! Wow, it feels weird after all these years to see it in its entirety again!!
